Devotion: Philippians 1:28

March 1, 2025

Philippians 1:28 …without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved – and that by God.

We begin our month of boldness and bravery with a verse from Philippians that reminds us to be courageous in how we live our lives. No matter what we face, we have the confidence that we are not fighting alone. We have a mighty God that saves us.

Verse 28 is a continuation of the statement started in verse 27, “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know you stand firm in one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel…”

Our lives and how we live them are our personal testimony of faith. This is why we should be bold. Our stories are our own. No one can dispute them or say they are false because they are our own experiences, our own message of the power of Christ. They are our faith on display for the world to see. We do not face the same opposition as the believers in the first century, but we will also face our own persecution. But we can be bold and live courageously because we know we are saved and have a God fighting with us and for us.

This month I challenge you to step out in faith. Live your life boldly, courageously fighting against the things that try to break you and tear you down. Stand firm in your beliefs and let God fight the battles for you.
