Devotion: 2 Corinthians 3:12

March 7, 2025

2 Corinthians 3:12 Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.

As we have learned in previous devotions, context is key to understanding. Today’s verse begins with therefore which tells us it is a continuation of previous verses and we need to read back before getting into the devotion. Beginning in 2 Corinthians 3:10 we see “For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory that lasts!”

We are destined for glory! How amazing and exciting is that? That promise is where our hope lies. It is where we should focus our efforts. We are here for a reason and He has a plan for our lives, as well as a plan for eternity. And that purpose is to bring glory to His Name.

Since we have such a hope, we can be bold in our faith. We can stand firm in the knowledge that we are chosen, redeemed, and glory is coming. The glory of the old covenant, Mosaic Law, is gone for those who believe in Jesus and the new covenant of salvation by faith. The old Law revealed our need for God. We couldn’t do it on our own and it affected our confidence. But Jesus gave His life as the ultimate sacrifice and He freed us, opening the door and ushering in a new glory that we share in.

That is why today we can step out in boldness and live a victorious life. Our hope is in Him and our boldness comes from His power. We have hope that we are in good standing with Him since Jesus died for our sins. And we have confidence in Him knowing that God now accepts us as spotless and without blemish.

Are you living a life of boldness or is your confidence still shaky? Step out in boldness today. Live a life of faith and strength through Him and His sacrifice for us.
