Review:

Perhaps it was the historical element of the story. Perhaps it was the message and how it was presented. Or perhaps it is just good storytelling. But I loved this story. I loved the whole thing and was anxious to share it with kids to see their responses (which I have yet to do, so cannot report on this). I loved how Patricia St. John gave a story that had no immediate spiritual lesson to see, but then gave a strong, Biblical lesson right after. Parents were shown how they can share a great spiritual lesson with their children through using this book. The pages after the story were wonderful, providing plenty of information and support for parents. My favorite message from the story was that when you change yourself and your surroundings it continues to ripple outward, as the other men in the mining camp also began to change after seeing Charlie’s transformation.  It is such a valuable lesson for our children and this book shows that point clearly. I thought this was a great book and welcome it into my own library.
