Book Review: A Lesson in Propriety

I absolutely devoured this book! I read it in a little over a day because I loved it so much. It was well written and captured my attention from the start. I loved every part of the story, from the mystery aspects of the haunted castle to the humor that author Jen Turano craftily weaves through the story. I was amused by all of the shennanigans Drusilla and her family and friends found themselves engaged in. It all brought a smile to my face and left me not wanting to put it down. Every chance I had I was reading it again. My family laughed at me for how fast I read the book and how disappointed I was when it ended. I am looking forward to the next books in the series and can’t stand the thought that it will be at least a year before the next one is released! This was my first experience reading a book by Jen Turano, but I was definitely not disappointed. Her writing style is fun and engaging, drawing readers in with humor and unexpected events that leave you amused as well as thoroughly entertained. I loved the fact that all of the women in this book were strong willed and not your typical damsels in distress. I was impressed at how Turano’s characters grew and developed throughout the novel, changing and becoming more confident and independent by book end. I highly recommend this book to readers who enjoy not only humor and unexpected situations that you’d not expect from the time period, but also those looking for clean, wholesome romance. I am looking forward to what Turano offers next.
