Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA)
By law anyone under the age of 13 MUST have parent permission on file with the organization before they are allowed to interact with any features, including creating an account, becoming a volunteer, etc. Parents/guardians must grant permission for their children/charges to submit information and participate in anything requiring sharing of personal information on the T4J site.
Unfortunately it is very difficult to track actual information of those utilizing interactive features on the T4J website. Those who are honest about their age and let us know they are under 13 must have their parents/legal guardian submit permission to the ministry.

This is policy of Teens4Jesus in regard to COPPA compliance:
Teens4Jesus Ministries, in compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) of 1998, provides notice to parents of children under 13 that:
- Teens4Jesus Ministries may collect personal information from children under 13 years of age, WITH parental consent, in order to provide them with access to services and content on Teens4Jesus Ministries;
- Teens4Jesus Ministries has created a mechanism by which parents and guardians can provide consent (printable form);
- Teens4Jesus Ministries may not require children under 13 to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to participate in an activity as a condition of participation; and
- Teens4Jesus Ministries has created a mechanism (request form) by which parents or guardians can, upon verification, review their children’s personal information, ask to have that information deleted, and refuse to allow any further collection or use of their children’s personal information.
