I wasn’t sure if I was going to like reading this book when I first realized there were two timelines going. I was afraid it would be hard to keep up with. But I was pleasantly surprised to find I had no trouble figuring out what was going on or keeping up with both sides. I then found I was enjoying it! It was a great read and one I was not expecting since I was so wishy washy going in. This was my first story by author Gabrielle Meyer and I can say that after reading this book, it won’t be my last! I actually want to go back in the series and get the first 3 books, since I saw someone else say that though they can be read alone, they are far better in the series. I aim to find out if that is true or not! As for this book, I was able to hop back and forth between both of the timelines and was sucked into the story of both times. I had a hard time putting the book down when life would call, and admit that a few times life called me numerous times before I finally stopped reading to answer! I was fascinated with the protagonist and her life, whether in 1727 or in 1927. And I learned a little about life in both times, thanks to the book’s setting. I feel this is a great read for those who are looking for historical fiction or Christian fiction. It will impress you with the time hopping fun!
