Review:

Upon opening this book and seeing the story’s setting and date I knew I had to read it. I am a major history buff, having full genealogies, local history, and ghost town research galore, both online and off. I am an amateur historian for sure, so this book, set in the areas I have researched and traveled, as well as where I have lived, took shape before my eyes. The author quickly wove a tale that captured my attention and unfolded in to my mind’s eye. I soon became lost in the story, unaware of the progress I made as my eyes traveled from page to page. I found the book ended far before I was ready and I wanted more to read. I was disappointed that it was done and my mind continued to replay the story long after I had finished. But it did not leave me wishing for more to complete the story – just to prolong it. I think that tween readers will enjoy this story as they watch it unfold. What kid hasn’t thought life somewhere else would be better and though of running away? Andi’s story is a great one that will show readers not only history but will entertain them as well.
