Author of Shadowed Witness

T4JYM: Can you tell us about your latest book and what readers can expect from it?

AC: Shadowed Witness is a romantic suspense set in small-town Kentucky. When Allye Jessup finds herself the sole witness to a murder, she wants to see justice served. But the police are unable to launch a full investigation because they can’t find evidence that a crime actually occurred. As Allye’s mysterious health struggles are amplified by a cat-and-mouse game with a killer she is unable to prove exists, she must learn to accept help instead of always being the “strong” one—and choose to trust God in the face of an uncertain future.

T4JYM: What message do you want readers to come away with after reading one of your books?

AC: When the final page is turned, I want my readers to take away a message of hope. I want them to be reminded that even in the darkest circumstances or the most intense struggle, there is always hope in Jesus. Hard times will happen, but we have a promise that they’re only temporary. In contrast, the comfort and peace found in belonging to Christ are ours to claim forever.

T4JYM: A little fun that is NOT book related. What is your favorite: Food? Drink? Color? TV show? Musician/Band?

AC: Sushi; hot tea; crimson; Signed, Sealed, Delivered; Keith & Kristyn Getty

T4JYM: Who are some of the authors you enjoy reading? What authors have inspired you as a writer?

AC: Ooh, that’s a hard one. Not because I don’t have favorites, but because I have so many of them! To keep it down to a just a few that I both love to read and that have had an impact on me as a writer, I’d have to say Lynn H. Blackburn, Sarah Sundin, and Lynette Eason.

T4JYM: What advice would you give to someone interested in publishing their work?

AC: Don’t be in too much of a hurry. Take time to learn the art of writing and be teachable. Learn from those in the industry—both about improving your craft and about publishing itself. Read well-written books in your genre. Pray for God’s will. And don’t give up. It can take quite a few years to get a book published, but it’s worth it.

T4JYM: What advice would you give to the youth of this world?

AC: Hold onto Jesus and study His Word. Remember that feelings, culture, situations, and popular trends all change, sometimes in an instant—but Jesus doesn’t. He is constant and consistent, and His Word is a firm foundation for your life.
