Interview with Brittany Hargest

from Jump5

By Courtney Gilmour

T4JYM: What has the band been up to lately?

BH: Well, Jump5 just finished the Radio Disney Spring tour with Play and Stevie Brock. We had so much fun on the tour, and we had a great time getting to meet some of our fans. We are about to go into the recording studio to start recording our new album that will come out in August.

T4JYM: How did the group come together?

BH: About four to five years ago, there was an audition held for a young Christian pop group. My brother Brandon and I both went to the audition and made the group. The funny thing was, all five members had known each other for many years through dance competitions and singing together since we were very young. We are still excited about all the opportunities that God has in store for us.

T4JYM: What is main objective of your music?

BH: Our main goal is to provide our audience with a good, clean image and fun music to dance to. We want to maintain high morals with our performance, and our focus is to spread a good message to young people who are surrounded by negative influences. We want to be a positive influence to every kid.

T4JYM: How did you decide to incorporate gymnastics into your performances?

BH: We have all been involved with gymnastics for quite some time now. We thought it would be exciting for our audience to see what we can do.

T4JYM: How long did it take you to practice gymnastics before you were good enough to perform it in your concerts?

BH: We all started gymnastics at a very young age.

T4JYM: What role does faith and spirituality play in your music?

BH: Our faith is the reason for what we do. Without the Lord in our hearts, we would be nothing. He gives us joy, so of course we want to share that same joy with the rest of the world.

T4JYM: How did each of you come to know God as the “everlasting love” you describe in your songs?

BH: I was seven or eight years old when I came to Christ. Before then, I knew about God but I didn’t really know who He was. My brother and I went to a Christian church camp with some friends, and at that time, I started realizing what I had been missing out on. I learned that God is the reason that I even exist. He is the reason for everything in this world. I’m still to this day learning about the many things that He does for us.

T4JYM: What can we be expecting to see from Jump5 in the future?

BH: You can expect to see more touring and a new record. We are so anxious to see what God has planned for us!
