Christian Road

by Sarah Grace Perkins

Just over a year ago I started on what I like to call my “Faith Quest”. During this time I read several books on issues of faith and spirituality. One of the books I read lead me back to the road of God. A few days after I made the decision to become a Christian, but still months before I became saved I sat down and thought about some of the values and ideas Christians hold close to their hearts, other than Jesus Christ of course. Some of the items that appeared on my mental list were prayer, compassion, love, hope, faith, and the one that is at times overlooked or focused on too often in my experience. Virginity.

I made the following list of reasons of why myself and countless others have made the commitment to remain virgins and why others should view virgins more highly than those who have had sex before they were ready.

Author’s note: These are just a few reasons why people remain virgins. They do not necessarily faith rooted meanings

Virginity should be considered sexy because….

  1. A virgin realized they are not ready for parenthood or the possibility of an S.T.D., H.I.V., or A.I.D.S.
  2. A virgin knows that sex is an act that is done by two people who love each other so much that they are to use that established love to create a child.
  3. A virgin has the utmost respect for their body and don’t want it to be used as a game, a toy, or something to throw away by a person who does not have the same respect for it.
  4. A virgin realizes that virginity is a gift. A gift that cannot be returned, exchanged, or given to the wrong person.
  5. A virgin has come to the conclusion that sex is for the pleasure of two people who love each other and not for two people to use as a form of entertainment when there is nothing else to do.
  6. A virgin knows the safest form of birth control is abstinence.
  7. A virgin knows that even though sex is a physical act emotions get involved if the other person is special enough.
  8. A virgin is giving one of the body’s most priceless gifts to a person they care about once they have sex.
  9. A virgin knows that like a first kiss you NEVER forget the first person you made love to.
