Community Service Ideas

Your club or group has decided to do some service for the community. What kind of service projects can you do? Here are a few ideas:

  1. Car Wash – Offer a free car wash. People will be suprised to learn it is free. It is a great way to share your faith because you will get a lot of questions as to why you are not charging.
  2. Grafitti Paint Out – Ask businesses with grafitti on their walls if they would purchase paint to cover it up. Then your group simply brings their own brushes and rollers and cleans the building up.
  3. Food Drive – Have your club sponsor a food drive within the school. Donate food to a shelter or orphanage.
  4. Clothing Drive – Have a clothing drive, similar to a food drive within the school. Choose a place to donate all clothing, shoes, blankets, jackets, etc.
  5. Community Clean Up – Take your club and do a community clean up. Pick up trash, pull weeds, and make things look nice in your community. Try networking with other clubs as well to make an even bigger impact.
  6. Prayer Fair – Let your club sponsor a prayer fair. Pass out coupons for one free prayer that give the time and location. (Check with your school to see if you can use the football field or gym if you promist to keep it clean.) Invite the community to attend. People can go from table to table to have people pray with them. You may work with other clubs or churches to have people help out.
  7. Work Day – Send notices to homes around your school or to parents of the students in your school that you have students “for hire.” Let them know what jobs you can fill (window washing, lawn mowing, weeding, car washing, etc.) Be sure all work is done OUTSIDE (teams are better) for safety reasons. Let them know that depending on the amount of requests they may not be able to get all jobs done.
