Review:
I always learn so much from reading commentaries, though I always worry about how biased or personal the interpretation will be. I have enjoyed reading Ironside commentaries in the past so was excited to have the chance to dive into the book of Daniel to learn more. As with other works by Ironside, I did find the wording to be a bit more challenging to read, only because this commentary was originally published in 1920, in a different time when writing was more formal than our laid-back times today. But it was not difficult to read at all, simply different. It was a nicely produced, well thought out, and very informative book. I love the packaging by Kregel, as well. Not only are the books well written and full of insight, but they look nice and are sturdy and durable, withstanding frequent use and handling. If you are looking for a solid commentary that is not heavy on personal interpretation, then Daniel in the Ironside Expository Commentary series is a great place to start.
