Review:

I am beginning to find that suspense is a genre I am enjoying. It was never one of my chosen genres in the past, but since I began reading the various books that come across my desk I am changing what I look for in reading. Elizabeth Goddard is one of the author’s who has helped me shift my reading preferences with the works she has been turning out. This latest book from Goddard had me on the edge of my seat. I simply couldn’t put it down. I immediately connected with the characters and found them to be believable and relatable. The characters were all well developed and grew from the beginning of the book through to the end. But it was the suspense that I loved the most. I kept trying to predict what would happen next and found myself unable to do so! I am not sure if it was the writing itself that drew me in or if it was the mystery of the maritime elements and the shipwrecks that fascinate me. I’m a fan of treasure hunting and the mystery surrounding the past in this book kept me turning page after page. On top of that, there was a nice romance thread woven throughout that added another layer to the overall story. Though the book was more than 300 pages, I found it ending far sooner than I wanted it to, with the culmination of the events being played out and resolved near the end of the story. Goddard has produced another amazing read and has become one of my favorite authors to read. If you are looking for a clean suspense with Christian elements, romance built in, and mystery and excitement, look no further than this book.
