1 Chronicles 19:13 Be strong, and let us fight bravely for our people and the cities of our God. The Lord will do what is good in His sight.
Today’s verse comes from Joab, a military leader of Israel, who was encouraging his troops to be brave in the face of battle. His words were meant to encourage those who were going into battle for their nation, but they hold truth that encourages us today, as well. We, too, should be brave and fight for our homes and families, in the same way the early Israelites were fighting for their people.
The call to be strong is meant to urge the soldiers to stand firm in their fight and to be bold in stepping into battle knowing that the Lord would be with them. Today’s believers should do the same. Be strong in your convictions and bold in fighting not for personal glory or recognition, but for the Lord. As we fight for our families, our beliefs, and our homes, we know that we are doing it for Him, not for us. Our strength is not used for us personally but rather to bless and protect others.
As you go forth bravely fighting for your families and homes, know that God is with you and gives you strength in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9-10). We know we cannot do this without Him. We have the confidence that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Phlippians 4:13).
Even when we are uncertain or face battles that seem impossible, we have God with us and we know He uses all things for His glory. Memorize the last sentence of this verse: “The Lord will do what is good in His sight.” Memorize it and meditate on it. Use this phrase in your prayers. The Lord will do what is GOOD… Trust this and step out bravely in all you do.
