1 Chronicles 22:13 Then you will have success if you are careful to observe the decrees and laws that the Lord gave Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged.
We conclude the month with the words King David spoke to his son Solomon when instructing him on building the Temple. He reminds him to obey the laws set forth by Moses and to remain strong and courageous, unafraid and not discouraged. He tells him to construct the temple with confidence and determination.
But what does this have to do with modern day believers?
We, too, are called to be obedient and faithful to God. We are to obey His commands. We might not follow the same laws that Solomon was instructed to follow, but we are to obey the commands Jesus taught – to love God and to love others. The Bible has many reminders of following God and the importance of obedience, so this is not a new concept for modern day Christians.
We can be obedient and confident in our faith because He is our strength. We can show boldness and courage in sharing Jesus with others because He is within us and gives us the words to speak. He is our strength in weakness, our encouragement in dark times, the Light that illuminates the path we walk. And because of this, we can be bold in living for Him and be prepared to always give an answer for the hope we have (1 Peter 3:15).
Be strong, friends. Be confident in Christ. Be encouraged. Be courageous and determined in all you do. And know it is Him in us that gives us all of this and so much more.
