1 Chronicles 29:13 Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.
A quick review of what is going on in history at this point in Scripture. David is leading worship with the Israelites and they are donating items to the contribution of the Temple building project. The people are giving from all they have to help provide for the temple of the Lord and it is at this point that they all realize that what they have to give is only theirs because God gave it to them. They are giving back just a small portion of the blessings He has bestowed upon them and reflects a core principle of stewardship – the recognition that all we possess ultimately belongs to God and came from Him.
Through this verse we learn that true worship is rooted in acknowledging God’s sovereign generosity and our willingness to give with a grateful heart. It is a message of both humility and stewardship, reminding believers that they are giving back to God what was first given to them and belongs to Him regardless of who holds it. In this verse, the focus is on acknowledging God’s sovereignty and expressing gratitude for His provisions.
Now, our God, we give You praise and worship Your holy name. We give You the honor and the praise and we do so from a grateful heart. We give out of humility, understanding that we are stewards of the things He has blessed us with and we are giving back a portion of what He has given us in recognition of His majesty and sovereignty.
Are you praising and worshiping our God with holy reverence and awe? Turn to Him today and thank Him for the blessings in your life. And then give back a little of what He has given you to acknowledge His sovereignty and power over life.
