Devotion: 1 Corinthians 10:31

Nov. 15, 2025

1 Corinthians 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

Wow. Two days in a row I selected a verse that doesn’t include elements of thanksgiving or gratitude. Again, oops! I create the month’s Scripture writing plan ahead of time and publish it at the beginning of each month, which makes it impossible for me to change the verse in the devotions since it leaves them unmatched. The devotions are all written to correspond with the Scripture writing plan to ensure that those who faithfully write them daily understand what they are writing. So instead, just like yesterday, we will look at the verse with the mindset of thanksgiving and praise.

Whatever we do, it is all done to God’s glory. And it is all done with an attitude of gratitude and praise. Have you ever been so grateful to someone for helping you that you wanted to help them and do whatever you could to show them how thankful you were? That should be how we serve God. We are so thankful for the blessings He has bestowed on us, we are so grateful for saving us and giving us life, that we serve Him wholeheartedly. And when we serve Him wholeheartedly, it is done to His glory.

So whatever you do – whether it be simple things like eating or drinking – it is ALL done to His glory with a heartfelt thank You. Sometimes those simple things become routine and we don’t think about what we are doing. But we should be mindful of where everything has come from. We should be aware of Who has provided everything for us, including those experiences, good AND bad. We have talked about that the last few days and we are receiving that message yet again.

And when we are aware of where things have come from and Who has provided it all, we should be thankful. Everything we are doing is covered in gratitude, and that gratitude glorifies God. It is all related. It is all connected and we must be aware of it.

Are you doing everything for His glory? Are you doing everything for His glory WITH gratitude? Today pay attention to what you are doing and determine whether you are doing it for His glory or with a grateful attitude. And then begin to make changes so that everything you do, whether it be simple things like eating or drinking, is done gratefully to His glory.
