1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Today we journey to the book of 1 Corinthians to take a look at verse 15:57. We see once more that Paul offered thanks by modeling it himself in his letter to them. He demonstrated his own gratefulness as he recognized what Jesus did for us throughout his letters.
To be more specific, it means that death no longer has a permanent sting for believers. No longer are we separated from God, but have been redeemed and made His children. We now have the inheritance of eternity (Colossians 1:12). Through our faith in Jesus we can overcome struggles as well as receive eternal life with Him. Remember, death is not the end, but rather it is a transition to eternal life.
Thanks be to God and God alone. He is the One worthy of our adoration, praise, and thanksgiving. He alone is deserving of all we offer. Are you giving Him your all? Or are you reserving part of yourself to hide away? Whatever you are giving, we can always step it up and add more.
So here is the reality. Our prayers are to be continuous. We are told to pray continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17), and you have seen this month how many times we were told to offer thanks with our prayers. So we need to understand that we are to pray continually with a grateful heart. We do so with confidence in Him to help us, trust that He hears our prayers, and hope for the future.
Thanks be to God forever and ever, Amen! All our thanks should ever be to Him and Him alone. Thank Him today for all He has given you and what He has done for you. Celebrate your salvation that came through Jesus and praise His name forevermore.
