1 John 4:11-12 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
Dear friends, we are being called to love one another in the same way God has loved us. God loved us so much that He sent His Son to earth, to dwell among His people and teach them how to love. And His love was made whole when He died upon the cross as a sacrifice for our sins. While we are not giving our lives for others, we CAN be showing them love.
The love we show to others is more than just feelings. It is doing. We take action and demonstrate our love by serving one another, helping the, walking alongside them through life, and letting God’s love pour out of us onto others.
What a promise we have in the second half of these verses. Though we have never seen God in His full essence, God lives IN us and our love is made complete. God’s love in us, His complete and perfect love, shows the world Him, not us. We demonstrate Him for others to see. He is seen in us when we show love to one another. We experience God’s love inside of us which is then given to others by our actions.even though God is invisible to the world, His perfect love is made complete in us and people see Him in our actions and service.
Take some time to spend alone with God thanking Him for His love. Ask Him to show you how you can share that perfect love with others. And then do it. Love others the way God has loved you. Then recognize and experience His love made complete and perfect, filling your heart and lives.
