1 Peter 1:21 Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.
Today’s verse takes us back to the foundation of our faith. It is through Christ that we are saved, that we are justified, redeemed, and through which we have salvation. In verses leading up to today’s verse we are reminded that it is Jesus who has been revealed to be God’s Son and He alone has become the sacrifice for our sins – the basis for which our entire faith is formed and grows.
Many people claim to believe in Jesus, but belief is not enough. It is the start, but not the end. It is through faith that we not only believe in Jesus as the Son of God, but understand that nobody comes to the Father except through the Son. He is the way. He is the truth. He is the life. And it is through our faith in Him and the sacrifice that He made for us that we are saved, and Him alone. It is not by anything we have done. Not by anything we could ever do. He became the sacrifice needed to redeem us from the death we all inherited and Him alone that saves.
His birth was just the beginning. His death was not the end. His life is now our own. We, too, are destined to a future of glory and greatness when we believe and accept Him as the sacrifice for our sins.
Is your hope in Him? Is your faith in Him? God not only had a plan for His Son, but also has a plan for you. He has a plan for your life, for your future, for eternity. Let your faith be in Him and the future He has in store for you. And that future begins with a relationship with Him. Seek Him. Trust Him. Believe in Him and let Him be the answer to your every need.
