Devotion: 1 Peter 4:10

Oct. 24, 2025

1 Peter 4:10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

So much of the month has been spent looking at our salvation by grace, which as we have said already is a foundational truth of our faith. Rightfully so, we need to ensure that the message is clear and there’s no room for misunderstanding or misinterpretation. But today we look at additional gifts we receive by grace, in addition to our salvation.

Each of us has been blessed with a gift that is unique to us, suited to our personality and our style. You may share the same gift as another person, but each of you ministers in ways that are entirely unique to yourselves and your personalities. And that was done intentionally! God made each of us different, with different perspectives, different life experiences, different talents and gifts, and different personalities. And that is what makes us such an amazing Body of Christ – because each one of us has a purpose, a place, a calling where we shine.

If you have read our devotions in the past you know we have talked about using online surveys and questionnaires to help you best identify the gifts you have been given. Some of us know immediately what our strengths are and where we love to serve, the gifts we have been given. But sometimes you don’t know exactly and sometimes you are completely surprised by what it might say about you and once you identify it you see how it is definitely something that is a strong point for you. There is value in knowing and using those tools, and I encourage you all once more to find out your gifts and then share with us what you have learned.

Our service is our way of giving back to a God who has given us so much. We serve others and use those unique gifts to build the body up and to help others grow in their faith. But have you ever stopped to think that you are a steward of that gift? God has graced you with a gift to use for Him. Are you using it? Are you letting Him use YOU as you use it?  Ponder that today as you contemplate how well you have stewarded His gracious gifts.
