2 Chronicles 20:15 He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the Lord says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.”
When we face challenges that seem impossible to overcome, it is easy to fall into despair. Fear and discouragement become our response. But just like King Jehoshaphat and the people of Israel, our trust should be in the Lord. There is no need to be afraid because God is with us and the battle is His.
This story is quite fascinating. If you have time, read it for yourself. In summary, the Israelites found themselves facing a sudden attack that did not give them time to muster troops. The King called for a fast from the people and prayed a prayer of praise for all the ways God had been victorious in the past. The next day their meager troops marched to the battlefield only to find their enemies dead. They had killed one another thanks to God intervening. The Israelites didn’t have to lift a single weapon. The battle truly had been the Lord’s.
If God could do this for His people in the past, what makes you think your struggle is impossible? God wants to reveal to you His love and power. All He needs is a repentant heart that seeks Him. How is your heart? Are you trying to fight the battle on your own or are you turning to Him for help? You can be victorious through Him. By prayer and fasting (Mark 9:28-29) you prepare your heart and allow Him to go to battle for you.
The battle is the Lord’s, so why are you making it yours? Let go today and let God fight for you. He is ready and waiting.
