2 Corinthians 5:7 For we live by faith, not by sight.

Depending upon the translation you use you might see this verse as we walk by faith rather than we live by faith. Regardless of the translation, the overall meaning remains the same. Our lives should be lived by faith, trusting in God to be our all in all. Current circumstances or hardships should not dictate our lives or diminish our flame. We still need to shine bright in a dark world, trusting God to guide our steps.

Our lives are more than just the things we believe or the actions we take. They are a culmination of multiple things – the experiences we have, the beliefs we have established in our lifetimes, and the process of putting our faith in God to guide us through each day. Our walk is not just a set of beliefs. It is each of us choosing to live by faith when we cannot see or under our current circumstances, trusting Him to point us in the right direction, believing He has a plan for us (Jeremiah 29:11) and sets our path for us to walk upon (Proverbs 3:5-6).

We do this by faith, not by sight. We do not see all that He sees and we do not understand because we have human minds that are limited. Our world tells us not to believe that which we cannot see, but our faith demonstrates the opposite. We do not need tangible evidence or physical proof in order for us to see and obey. We step out in faith with full confidence that the God who has guided us before will guide us again.

If you are facing difficulties or challenges, don’t lose faith. You have a hope that is so much more powerful than fear and doubt. Let Him fill you with His strength and boldness so that you can walk by faith, not by sight.
