2 Timothy 1:7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.

The beauty of being a Christian is that we are never alone. We have been blessed with the Holy Spirit who goes with us wherever we may go. The Spirit leads us, inspires us, encourages us, strengthens us. We can be bold and brave because we are strengthened by Him.

This epistle is a letter the Apostle Paul sent to his prodigy Timothy, who was young and growing spiritually and as a leader. It is no wonder he wrote such encouraging words. He wanted to help guide young Timothy in his ministry work.-  the same as when you are young or new in a job and it is easy to be hesitant, timid, or uncertain. But we can find confidence in the words of this verse. We have the Spirit within us, and it is the Spirit that helps us to not be timid. We have not been given a spirit of fear, but instead we have a spirit of power.

A spirit of power is referring to the strength and confidence given to us from God which comes through the Holy Spirit. This spirit helps us overcome obstacles and lets us live a life of purpose and courage. It is a manifestation of God’s strength and power, given to us by the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit guiding us and filling us with His power we wouldn’t be able to do the things we do that please God.

We receive power, love, and self-discipline from Him. This power gives us the courage to live a life for Him. We are filled with confidence to love others as He loves us, with God’s love filling us and overflowing to others. We are filled with compassion towards others. And this power gives us the strength to be self-disciplined. We can make good decisions thanks to self-discipline.

Praise Him for the spirit of power that you have been given. Be open to allowing this spirit to work in your life. Let the Holy Spirit grant you power, love, and self-discipline and live your life in a way that is pleasing to God.
