2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Someday I hope we can all say like Paul, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race.” These words were written near the end of his life when he was in prison. And he truly had lived a life of influence and fought the good fight, despite the rocky start when he persecuted Christians before meeting Jesus. He is a prime example of how life changing a personal relationship with Jesus can be, going from one of the greatest persecutors of early believers to the most influential of the apostles credited with writing numerous books of the New Testament.
We were never promised a life filled with ease and comfort. Jesus told us life would be hard, that people would persecute us, and that we needed to daily take up our cross to follow Him. Nothing in that says life as a Christian is smooth sailing. But we do know that despite the hardship and trials we are never alone. We always have a Comforter with us, guiding us and giving us strength. And we know that even in the face of trials, we will be filled with peace and joy. Life may be rough, but life with Him is worth it.
What fights are you facing? What battles are you going through? The race is not over. The fight is not finished. Hang in there. Trust Him to carry you through. Stay strong and have faith. He has a plan and you can see it come about. Just don’t give up. Don’t quit. Do not walk away. Fight the good fight. Run that race with all you’ve got and finish the race.
When you reach the end of your life, what legacy do you hope to leave? I want to be remembered for being a woman of God who stood strong in faith and loved others. I want to be the Jesus others see, that when they look at my life they do not see me but instead they see Him.
