Devotion: Acts 13:38-39

July 26 2025

Acts 13:38-39 “Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.”

As I prepared for today’s devotion I decided to see what others had to say about it since so much of what was coming to me was a repeat of early days this month. And I found this from brandonweb.com and feel it is so much better than anything I could devise on my own. “For man to appreciate forgiveness he must understand what life and eternity would be without it. Without forgiveness there would be no entry into heaven. Without forgiveness every funeral service would be a prelude to hell. Without forgiveness there would be no knowledge of love.”

Have you ever stopped and pondered what life would be like had you not turned to Jesus? Where would you be today? Would you still be stuck in the cycle of sin and condemnation? Would your future still be one of darkness and despair?

Thankfully that is no longer our future. We are no longer caught in the chains of our own sins and facing destruction. We are free to live as the loved, chosen, and cherished children of God that He designed us to be. We are released from the old Law, from the need for ongoing sacrifice for atonement. Jesus died for our sins fulfilling that requirement, freeing us forever with His death on the cross. Everyone who believes is set free from EVERY sin. Every sin, from your past life before belief to those you commit today, to ones yet to be birthed in your soul. God has already forgiven them all with the price paid at Calvary.

Walk free in your faith, friends. Let His power, His grace and mercy, His love wash over you. Let go of the guilt, walk away from the shame, and turn your eyes to Him. The chains are gone, the cell door has been opened – it is time to walk out of the darkness and into His light to live the life He has set before you.
