Colossians 1:12 And giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.

In the Old Testament God made a covenant with His chosen people and gave them land – the Promised Land. Those lands were passed down, an inheritance signifying that each one of them belonged to Him.

Fast forward to the New Testament and today’s verse and we see that the Gentiles, who were not His chosen people, would also share in the inheritance of His holy people. That means you and I will experience the same inheritance as His chosen people. Jesus redeemed us and made us heirs.

But do we feel worthy of this inheritance or share?  I know I don’t feel worthy. But it’s okay. Even if we don’t feel worthy, He has qualified us. Because He has qualified us, we are worthy to take part in our share of the inheritance.

Celebrate your grace given inheritance with gratitude and joy. It is good to feel joy at the prospect of knowing we have an eternal future awaiting us with Him. Thank Him now. Jesus has rescued us from darkness (sin) and we are now being brought into the kingdom of light, heirs that don’t deserve it, but who will joyfully accept it. Gratitude is shown in appreciation and praise to Him.

Today let’s pause and remember to thank God for grace and the inheritance He has qualified us to receive.
