Devotion: Daniel 12:3

November 12, 2024

Daniel 12:3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.

Today’s verse comes from a passage teaching us about the End Times and the prophecies are pretty dark. But though there will be intense persecution during those times (Daniel 12:1), the angel speaking to Daniel also gives hope. The dead will rise, the righteous to eternal life with God, the nonbelievers to eternal separation (Matthew 25:46).

The phrase those that are wise is referring to believers in Christ and His saving grace. These Christians have placed their faith in Jesus. The remainder of the first part of the verse is – will shine like the brightness of the heavens. Isn’t that a beautiful image? The believers will shine. His glory will radiate from within for all to see. Their bodies will be transformed (1 Corinthians 15:51-52). Our old bodies will be no more and we will be glorious to behold!

The verse goes on to speak of those who lead many to righteousness. We have ALL been commissioned to share the Gospel (Matthew 28:19) and should be ready to give an answer as to where our hope comes from (1 Peter 3:15). For those who bring others to righteousness, those who are actively sharing and helping lead people to a saving faith in Christ, they will be like the stars forever. They will shine like the splendor of the heavens for eternity.

What hope we have in the promises of the future! Can you imagine? Can you see it? And the glory of that shine will be better than we could ever fathom!

Today let’s do our part. Reach out to people who you know need Jesus. Be ready to give an answer to any who ask you about your faith. And shine on earth! You may be the only Jesus someone sees today. Are you doing your part?
