Ephesians 2:7 …in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
As believers we have a hope that non-believers do not have. We have hope in the future, in what He has planned for us – eternity with Him, forever praising His name and basking in His presence. Today’s verse speaks of that future, and offers encouragement and inspiration to believers.
Because of His great love and undeserved mercy, He has raised believers with Christ and seated them in heavenly places. Since He has done this, we have a future that guarantees us eternity. We must remember that salvation is not earned, it is a gift, granted to us by His grace which is expressed in His kindness to us through Christ. We will enjoy this gift of grace eternally, seeing His kindness and love firsthand.
This verse points forward, showing us that the ultimate purpose of making believers alive in Christ is to showcase His grace forever. We will see incomparable riches, or riches that are truly immeasurable because they are so overly abundant and forthcoming. These riches will far surpass anything on earth and will last forevermore.
God’s grace isn’t just an attitude He has toward us or a one-time event . It is an active demonstration of His amazing kindness. We first saw His kindness when He sent His Son to die for humanity and reconcile us to Himself through Jesus. If He loved us that much and showered us with grace upon grace while we were still unworthy, imagine how much more kindness we will see in heaven.
If you have never accepted Christ as your Savior or turned from your sins to Him, today is the day you should do that. You do not want to miss out on the kindness God will grant us for eternity.
