Devotion: Exodus 28:3

September 25, 2024

Exodus 28:3 Tell all the skilled workers to whom I have given wisdom in such matters that they are to make garments for Aaron, for his consecration, so he may serve me as priest.

This verse may look out of place amongst the other verses on wisdom. But if you have read any of my devotions over the past few months you know that each verse has a purpose for being selected and a place amongst the verses for the month.

This verse was selected to be included because it highlights the fact that God blesses us each and every one, with wisdom and talent. It is from Him that we find the source of our calling. It is from Him that we are given a purpose beyond human understanding and expectation..

In Exodus God gives Moses all of the instructions for building the temporary temple of the Lord. This was the tabernacle that could be broken down and reassembled as needed. It was a place God came to be with His chosen people and as such it needed to be holy and consecrated. Therefore, it required highly skilled artisans at work on it to ensure it met standards of excellence. And the only way these artisans would have the skill necessary was to be gifted with it by God Himself.

Not only were they gifted with the skills needed to complete the tasks of building the tabernacle and clothing the priests, but they were inspired to create works of art, things of beauty. These artisans were filled with a spirit of skill or a spirit of wisdom.

God has blessed you with special gifts, as well. Do you know what they are? Pray for God to show you what skills He has blessed you with so that you may use them to glorify Him.
