Genesis 39:21 …the Lord was with him; he showed him kindness and granted him favor in the eyes of the prison warden.
Some days it feels like we are walking alone in a world gone wrong. But then we see reminders like today’s verse, reminders that tell us God loves us and is with us even in the darkest of days. And He is ready to shower down blessings and kindness upon us. We must remember that His love and kindness is not based upon circumstances. It is always there, always ready, always available.
We see in today’s verse that though Joseph was imprisoned unjustly, God was still at work and He had a purpose for all that was taking place. He used the circumstances for His glory. We see that no matter how dark the days were for Joseph, the Lord was with him. He will never leave us nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:8). He carries us through the worst of times and comforts us (Psalm 23).
And despite all the odds, Joseph rose from his lowly position as a prisoner to be used as one of the most powerful men in Pharaoh’s court. God showed His kindness in raising him from the prisons to a position of influence. He was put in charge and was able to save his family, the same family that sold him into slavery so many years before.
Today’s verse serves as a reminder to us that God’s presence is never limited. We don’t just see Him or feel Him with us during the good times. He is with us when we face the dark times, the times when we are grieving loss, when we are struggling through financial woes, when we have relationship issues, and in every trial we face. Every trial is met with God at our side.
Are you walking through dark days? Are you feeling lost and alone? Turn to the Lord. He is waiting to embrace you and wrap His comforting arms around you. He is ready to walk through those days with you. He is ready to show you His kindness as He carries you through it all.
