Isaiah 12:2 Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.
How comforting is it to know that throughout the entire Bible we see the love of our God, He who is our salvation? We actually see His plan for redemption as early as Genesis 3:14. Sadly, the Israelites had a bad habit of not trusting in God’s plans for redemption and often sought out alternatives. Sometimes those alternatives was themselves. But salvation is found in none other than Jesus Christ (Acts 4:12). Because of that we can boldly proclaim that SURELY God is our salvation.
Who do you draw your strength from – yourself, a spouse, friends, or God? Or rather, who SHOULD you be drawing your strength from?
I read something recently about repeated words in the scriptures and what they mean. I learned that when a word is repeated, such as “The Lord, the Lord Himself,” it is like making something bold in our word processors. It is emphasis. So we see here “THE LORD, THE LORD HIMSELF is my strength.”
Since the Lord is our strength, who or what do we fear? Nothing can separate us from our God (Romans 8:39). Knowing the Lord is our salvation, our strength, and nothing can ever separate us, we have no reason to fear. We are held firm in His hands. We have His protective, comforting arms around us holding us close. Fear has no place in our lives. None.
Take a few minutes today to stop and be still, enter into His Presence, and thank Him for your salvation. Thank Him for being your strength and your defense. Lay your fears at His feet and praise His holy Name.
