Devotion: Isaiah 41:10

August 31, 2024

Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

This month we spent each day exploring just how amazing our God is and His promises to bring us through the struggles we face with anxiety, fear, stress, and worry. We end the month with one more promise. He is our God and He is with us. He will make us strong and He will help us. And He is a faithful God, always living up to His promises and His love.

Today’s verse was a promise to Israel who was in the midst of exile. He assured His chosen people that He had not abandoned them and was still there and always would be.

“To strengthen you” is an amazing promise from God. In Hebrew the meaning was more than just making them stronger. The meaning was to grow and develop, to have courage, to seize and keep hold of. God knew what the people needed, just as He knows exactly what YOU need today. Every experience, every trial and challenge, strengthens you and builds character (James 1:3-4). Let Him seize you and hold you firm and strong. He is your strength and your courage (Philippians 4:13). He holds you in His hand (Psalms qp139:10; Psalms 73:23).

Just like in the past, God is using these tough times, the anxiety and worry, to restore and support you (1 Peter 5:10). You have not been forgotten. You have never been abandoned. You are NEVER alone.

Take faith in that. Find strength in the God who loves you so much He died to give you life. Turn to Him and let His comforting presence wash over you.
