Devotion: Jeremiah 32:19

Sept. 29, 2025

Jeremiah 32:19 Great are your purposes and mighty are your deeds. Your eyes are open to the ways of all mankind; you reward each person according to their conduct and as their deeds deserve.

As we draw near the end of the month we are taken back into the Old Testament to the book of Jeremiah where once more we see that it is God’s purpose for us that we exist. Not only do we see that it is our reason for existing, for a greater purpose, but also that we are rewarded based upon that purpose.

This verse reminds us that God is all powerful, all mighty, all great. He is everything. He created the world and everything in it. He gave breath to us and to every creature within His dominion. And He has a purpose. He desires fellowship with us, His creation, His crowning piece of work. He sees everything, knows everything, and He is glorified by everything, including us. He is without limit, without beginning and without end, and He has a plan for us and for our lives, ones we need to seek Him to discover.

His wisdom and power are on display all around us in everything we see and in everything we do. His plan for salvation was laid in place from the fall of mankind, from the moment sin entered the world, and He uses everything for His glory, including the sin of the world. In His wisdom, He laid out the plan to redeem us, to bring about restoration and to allow fellowship once more – through the blood of His precious Son sent to earth to be the sacrifice for our sins.

And it is through God’s justice that every person will be judged. It is through His grace and mercy that we will be rewarded for all we do – not just our intentions, but for the actual actions we take, for the choices we make, for the ways we serve Him.

Are you living a life worthy of His grace and mercy? Are you doing your part to serve Him and be His hands and feet on earth? Are you sharing His grace with others? We live in a world that is getting progressively worse, evil is running rampant, and people are on the path to destruction. Are you sharing His goodness with them, showing them the way to redemption and holy living? That is ultimately our purpose and what we should be doing, and we need to obey the call to serve, set apart and holy, living a life that glorifies God.
