John 8:32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light. No one comes to the Father except through Him. And we see in this verse that the truth is what sets us free. We have freedom from sin and eternal death and separation through Him and Him alone. Nothing we do can save us. We are saved through our faith in Him and by His grace and mercy.
Sin is a prison that entraps us and holds us captive. Everyone sins. It is in our nature and we have to consciously choose to live a life that is holy and set apart. Unfortunately, we cannot free ourselves. We cannot live a perfect life free of sin, no matter how hard we try. It corrupts our thinking, controls our actions and behaviors, and destroys any peace and hope we have.
But through Jesus, we have an escape. Freedom can be ours. That doesn’t mean we will never sin again. We will. And we will struggle with the temptations and distractions of the world we live in. But with the Spirit, we can turn away from those sins and to Him, who has the power to defeat sin and provide freedom.
True freedom is found in Him. Seek Him today and every day after. Turn to Him and let His forgiveness wash over you and make you clean. You are a new creation, redeemed and loved. Each day we have a new opportunity to seek His face and know Him more, growing in our spiritual knowledge and understanding. The more we grow in Him, the more freedom we experience.
You can be free. The only thing holding you back is you. You were never meant to live in bondage. The Truth can and will set you free if you seek Him with all you have. Abide in Him and He will abide in you and fill you with freedom.
