Luke 12:25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?
I admit that I am often filled with anxiety and worry. Despite knowing I shouldn’t worry, I do. I try to stop, to take those thoughts captive (2 Corinthians 10:5), and to change my thinking. But I usually fail to succeed more often than not. And this verse is one I memorized to help me meditate on His truths when anxiety and worry threatened to pull me under.
Worry is a nasty habit. It has its basis in fear and it robs us of our joy. We get caught up in crippling emotions and lose sight of the hope we have in Jesus. But remember… We have no reason to fear. We have no reason to doubt. Our anxiety does nothing but cloud our minds and distract us from our true purpose as followers of Christ. And we all know the enemy wants to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), often through our anxiety.
Do not give in to your mind and the worries it has fashioned. Instead stop and pray. Say no to anxiety, to stress, to worry, to fear. Lay them at the foot of the Cross. And do not pick them up again. And here’s the key to success: replace those things with positive, empowering, truth filled statements. You can’t just set aside anxiety or fear. You must replace it with something positive. Otherwise the old will creep back in, sometimes far worse than before!
You CAN be free. Are you willing to do the work to end the worrying and anxiety that plague your life? There’s no better day than today!
