Luke 6:36 Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.
We wrap up our month of grace with a reminder. We are to be merciful to others just as He has been merciful to us. For a review, mercy is not receiving the punishment we deserve. He gave us grace, a free gift that we did not deserve, which is often paired with mercy. And as believers, we are called to extend that same level of mercy and grace to others as we have received.
Despite being sinners who did not deserve saving, God loved us and made a way for redemption from the start. He gave each of us free will to decide how we will live and whether we will choose to live for Him or not. And because of those sins, we do not deserve to have His mercy. But He loves us regardless.
It doesn’t matter how bad you have been, how entrenched in sin your life may be, it is never too late to turn to Him and His mercy and grace. It doesn’t change the love He has for us. He loves us despite those sins.
Stop living in shame and guilt. Choose to repent and turn back to Him. Choose to turn to the God who loved you so much that He sent His Son to save you. Even if it was just YOU He was sent to save, He would have done it. His love is that great.
Today let’s embrace that mercy and then extend it to others. He has given us mercy when we deserved far more, and in His infinite love showered us with grace and blessings. And we should be doing the same with others. Who can you extend grace and mercy to today?
