Psalm 100:4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
The psalms are such wonderful guides to helping us enter into a worship-filled, praise-focused experience. They serve as models for how we should come before the Lord and enter into His presence. In this psalm we are given a visual of entering His gate and coming into His court with thanksgiving and praise.
When we enter His gates with thanksgiving, we are choosing to come into His presence with a grateful heart full of thanks and gratitude. We make a choice to come before Him with a heart that is full of grateful praise and prepared for total worship.
We then continue our worship experience by entering His courts with praise. We recognize that it is Him alone that gives us hope, Him alone that is our source of everything. We see Him as the Master, the Creator, the One who has saved us and sustains us. And we give Him all the praise He deserves when we come before Him with a heart full of absolute dedication and heartfelt thanks.
We give thanks to Him and praise His name. We are thankful in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:18), regardless of whether those circumstances are good or bad. We come before Him knowing Him intimately, and we realize who we are in Him – We are the children of God (1 John 3:1. We are members of His holy family (John 1:12-13). We are heirs of His amazing, powerful, and wonderful kingdom (Romans 8:17. And we thank Him for all of this and give Him praise.
Today let’s enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. And then let’s worship before Him because He alone is worthy of our praise and thanks.
