Psalm 145:8 The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.
This is such an inspiring verse and a perfect reminder of the gift of kindness we all have received from God. In His great graciousness and compassion He has blessed us with kindness and love. And it is a message we need to be reminded of time and time again because we get so caught up in our own lives and what is going on around us that we forget the simple blessings.
He is slow to anger. That is a huge blessing in itself because we are so undeserving of His love and kindness. We see time and again how many chances He gave people throughout the Bible and how many times they turned away from Him and to their sin. Yet He sent prophets and warnings and reminders again and again to turn them back to Him and to change their ways. He could have done away with His chosen people numerous times over, but He is slow to anger. That is a crazy thought when you look at just how many chances He gave them and how many times they turned away. Yet even in His anger, He still gave them opportunities to change and chances for redemption.
Why? Because He is rich in love. He loves us that much. He loves us so much He sent His Son to redeem us from the wages of sin (Romans 6:23). It didn’t matter that we were unworthy. He loves us despite that. He loves us just as we are – flaws, imperfections, and all. He made each of us to be perfect in His eyes, unworthy and undeserving in our sins. But He wants none to perish (2 Peter 3:9) and give us chance after chance to return to Him, no questions asked.
Repent today, turn back to the Lord, and enter His loving fellowship once again.
