Psalm 150:6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord.
We begin a new month with the focus on praise and worship. We will spend numerous days this month exploring the various psalms that sing praise to our Lord. But for the first day we begin with the end, taking a look at the final psalm, discussing the final verse and its call to worship.
After 150 different psalms, many of which were calls to worship and poetic verses singing praise, you might not expect to end with a final call to praise. But not only do we get just that, we also have it repeated. Twice we see the invitation to praise the Lord.
And it is not just us, His people, who are called to praise but every single thing that has breath inside of it. Everything. The plants, the animals, the people… if it has breath it should praise the Lord. Why? Because He made us for worship, to praise, to sing of His glory and goodness and mercy. Every part of us should be raising voice in praise to Him.
I don’t want to be silenced today, this month, or ever. I don’t want the rocks to cry out instead of me. I want my life to be lived praising Him, glorifying His goodness, singing to Him in daily, hourly, minute by minute worship. He gave us the breath within us. We give it back humbly, in the form of praise and worship.
Join me this month in making every day a moment of worship. Lift your voices high, your hands to the sky, your adoration to Him alone. Feel the emotion of worship, pour out your praise with the very breath He gives you. Sing to Him a new song.
Welcome to a month of worship. Let’s set aside self and focus instead on praising our Lord. Every minute of every day, try to praise His name. And don’t beat yourself up if you don’t do it. Make a conscious effort to choose worship when you realize you are not engaging in it. The more we try to make worshipping Him second nature, the more we will naturally do it. Choose worship today and every day from here on out.
