Psalm 31:24 Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.
As we all know, life can be hard. As we have said before, just because we are Christians, we don’t get a pass to Easy Street. Life just does not cooperate sometimes.
But the one thing we know, the one thing we can always count on, is the love of God and His faithfulness. He promised the Israelites as they prepared to enter the Promised Land that He would always be with them and to have courage (Joshua 1:9). And He promises us today to be strong and to take heart, which is an idiom that means have confidence or feel hopeful. It is used as a means of encouragement, to help boost people who are down or discouraged.
And not only should we be encouraged by this message of hope in the Psalms, but Christ Himself said to take heart for He has overcome the world (John 16:33). Our hope and joy comes from knowing that He loves us and has redeemed us from eternal separation. He bought us through His sacrifice on the cross, shedding His blood to atone for our sins. Because of this great love, we have the promise of eternity with Him, the greatest hope one can have.
He is the source of our strength, the reason for our hope, and the foundation for our faith.
Have you placed your trust in Him? Is He the source of your hope? Take heart. Our hope is in the promises of eternity with Him.
