Devotion: Psalm 94:19

November 8, 2024

Psalm 94:19 When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.

Being one who struggles with anxiety, this verse gives me great hope and encouragement. I find hope in knowing He that is in me is greater than the world (1 John 4:4). Hope knowing He has overcome the world (John 16:33).  Hope knowing that He is with me and my Helper (Psalm 118:7). And so much more! I cannot even begin to list all of the things I draw hope from thanks to Christ. He is that amazing!

And He brings us joy! No matter how rough life gets or how heavy burdens feel or how high anxiety levels rise, He is there to offer us comfort. He is there to wrap arms of love around us, loving arms that comfort our troubled hearts. And not only does He give us comfort but He gives us comfort that brings joy. No earthly comfort is that great. Nothing else can remove anxiety and replace it with joy with simply words of comfort. Only He can do that.

The key is seeking Him and then actually LETTING HIM!

Let His blessings flood your soul. Let His comfort and consolation bring you joy unspeakable. Let Him work in your heart, your mind, your life. Let Him fill you. Whatever the circumstances… just let Him. Let Him have control. Give it to Him and don’t snatch it away.

And then feel the joy He brings. Joy in your circumstances, your efforts, the outcomes. Joy in your mind, your soul. Joy in your heart. Joy beyond description, joy that fills you with hope for tomorrow, for today, for the next hour, for this minute…

Anxiety may be great and feel like it’s going to crush you. But He is there to change everything. Hear His consolations and let Him bear the brunt of the anxiety you cling to. It is there that you will find hope in the loving God who has joy waiting just for you.
