Romans 6:14 For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.
Today’s verse is an amazing declaration that all Christians can make. We once were bound under the law, which revealed sin’s power and brought about condemnation, but we are bound no longer. We are freed from that bondage and can walk freely in His grace!
Of course, we need to be cautious, too. We cannot use this freedom as an excuse to sin or to continue in behaviors that do not glorify Him. We may have the freedom to walk in grace, but we do not have a license to sin. We are still called to be different, set apart, holy. We need to remember that we have the eyes of others on us and this may be the only time they see Jesus in us. We need to make the most of every opportunity, which means not doing something that might cause another to stumble or to tarnish their views of our faith.
But we also need to remember that this is a victory cry. Sin no longer has a hold on our lives! We have conquered that sin through the grace that has washed over us. We have been released from the condemnation of sin and the chains that held us back. And now we can step forward, under the banner of grace, and live a life that is different, one that is righteous. We can live a life for Him because He gave His life for us.
Celebrate that freedom today. Shout out to the world that you are no longer bound by the shackles of sin and you are free to be who Christ wants you to be.And then step out in faith and actually live that life. Live a life for Him and give Him all the glory He deserves.
