Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
A few days ago we explored Isaiah’s call to go forth and speak for God. At that time, you were encouraged to heed the call to go forth yourself. Yesterday we looked at the calling we have to be witnesses to all of the nations, making disciples to the ends of the earth.
And then we have a letter to the Romans that tells us that He works all things for the good of those who love HIm, all who have been called according to His purpose. We have had multiple days that talk of us being called to a greater purpose, HIS purpose of a personal relationship with Him. But people can only have that personal relationship if they meet Him. And how will they meet Him if they are never told the gospel story? Each of us has a job to do, a purpose to fulfill, and we need to do our part.
We see in today’s verse that in ALL things God works for the good of those who love Him. “All things” include every circumstance we find ourselves in, whether they be good or bad, as well as the entire scope of our lives. Every aspect of our lives can fulfill His greater purpose. Our testimony is something that is unique to us alone. No one else has the same experiences you have had, the same responses, the same outcomes. And those all shape who you are as an individual, as a child of God. He uses every bit of it to demonstrate His grace in our lives.
We have all been called according to His purpose. This means He has a desire to have a personal relationship with every person He has created, but knows not all will choose Him. Yet He calls people into a relationship with Him if they turn to Him, and each person begins the transformation from the old self to a new life in Christ. He does this to bring glory to Himself and His Son.
Trust that He is in control and using all things for His purpose. Be encouraged, friend, because He is changing lives. The present suffering, struggles, and trials are shaping us to be stronger, more resilient believers and we are being remade into the image of Christ. Let Him transform YOUR life today.
