Devotion: Romans 8:38-39

July 5, 2024

Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I love this verse and all of its “nors.” Nothing, let me repeat NOTHING, can separate us from God’s love. Not any of the comparisons listed in this passage NOR things not mentioned. I cannot separate myself from His love and neither can you. You can reject that love, but that does not mean it ceases to exist. He still loves us no matter what.

Isn’t God’s love absolutely amazing? It is there no matter what! Nothing changes the fact that He loves us so much that He gave His Son to die for us (1 John 4:11; John 3:16) . We have nothing to fear because nothing can separate us from a God who loves us so much and so deeply. Nothing natural can separate us, nothing supernatural can separate us. Nothing in our past, nothing in our now, nothing in the future – nothing can separate us from His love.

We may face hardships that test us (Hebrews 12:3-11) or persecution (John 16:33). We may even find ourselves acting disobediently (1 John 1:9-10). No matter what you do, He still loves you. No matter what mistakes you have made, nothing separates you from His love. No matter what you say, do, believe, or do not believe, it does not separate you from His love. He continues to love you and always will.

You just need to KNOW that. God provided for our justification. Jesus embodied that love and gave Himself in our place. We are f Internalize it. Accept it. Believe it. Embrace it. Celebrate it. Tell others about it. You are loved and will always be loved.
