“I’m overweight.”
Have you or someone you know ever said this? What have you done about it? Trying the fad diets and noticing that they just aren’t working fast enough, or aren’t even working at all, can lead you to starvation or any other form of eating disorder. Eating disorders usually affect people ages 5 to 60. Over half of the population with eating disorders are young women. The following are a list of eating disorders.
Anorexia nervosa: People with anorexia starve themselves. Even when the people around them can see that they are thin or painfully skinny, they will still call themselves “fat.” Did you know that 20% of untreated people with anorexia die of starvation or heart failure?
Bulimia nervosa: People with Bulimia tend to overeat and then vomit. This is a hard eating disorder to detect because Bulimics hide their illness. This attempt to lose weight will end up badly. People with this disorder should seek professional help.
Binge Eating disorder: People with this disorder overeat ten or more times then what is normal. The difference between this eating disorder and Bulimia is that there is NO vomiting in the Binge Eating disorder. People with this disorder become excessively overweight and find it difficult to lose weight.
There are MANY Christians struggling with eating disorders. So believe it or not, you are NOT alone! Listed below are a few organizations to help you pray and talk about eating disorders. Also, you should get professional help if you happen to have an eating disorder. Talk with your parents or someone close to you about going to see a doctor.

Another way to help you overcome an eating disorder is by the over comers outreach program. They have meetings where you can talk to others like yourself. This program is not ONLY for eating disorders, but also for many other concerns.
