Doing Everything for Christ – Part 2

Witnessing and Your Acts
By Mandy Hughett

Thank you for wanting to continue this series! And thank you for everyone who sent in their goals and prayer requests to me last month. Blessings on you all.

This month I would like to talk about witnessing and your acts. You know your goals for this year and you are going to accomplish them. But can you do it without Christ? Maybe. But depending on what your goals are, you may not be able to do it alone. So you are asking God to help you on your way to make this year better, but how are you going to let others know you are a Christian? By shoving your faith down their throat? By acting like you are better than everyone else? Or by acting Christ-like?

There is not one person who wants someone else to push his or her beliefs on to them. When I was not a Christian, I hated hearing about Christianity. I didn’t like it when people came up to me and asked if they could pray for me. And I didn’t like them telling me about their God without asking me first if I would like to hear about it. No one likes a pushy Christian. And that is defiantly not how you are going to win souls to Christ.

So you won’t do that. You will try acting like you are better than everyone else. You think if people will see how good of a person you are, they will surely want to be the same and come to Christ. No!

If you are someone who thinks like that, I hate to break it to you, but you are wrong. Other people will see you as you appear, and that is someone who is stuck-up. A lot of people will not like you for this. Some will, but not for the right reasons.

First, you are not better than anyone else. So let’s try again.

Acting Christ-like. Being nice to people. Praying for people out of the goodness of your heart. Praying even for your enemies. (On your own. Don’t go up to someone and scare him or her away.) Sharing the word when someone wants to hear it or when they are in need.

The Bible tells us in Matthew 28:19-20: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always to the very end of the age.”

Let others see that you are a Christian through your acts. If someone needs help understanding something in class, help them! If someone needs a friend, be their friend. The Holy Spirit lives inside you. Let others know you are a Christian by your love.
