Fear

by: Sheryl Taylor

Some people have different interpretations of fear. Some may imagine walking down a dark alley in Brooklyn at twelve o’ clock at night. Someone’s biggest fear may be being murdered, or someone else’s biggest fear may be breaking a nail:). But no matter what your worst fear may be you should believe and pray that God can take that fear, whatever it is and turn it around for the better. Matthew chapter 10 verse 28 says, “Don’t fear those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul; but rather, fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

Now I have no intention of lying to you, and I will tell you that when I encounter something that terrifies me I will be the first one in fetal position huddling in a corner. But one thing I do know is that no matter how frightening the situation may be, God saw it first, he knew this would happen exactly, and where it would happen. It says in Luke chapter 12 verse 4 “My friends, I can guarantee that you don’t need to be afraid of those who kill the body. After that they can’t do anything more.” I don’t know about you, but every time I read that I feel like I’m ready to go face an army all by myself. (Well, maybe not all by myself:0 )

Fear did not come from God, but it is something from the devil. In Matthew 10:26, and 31, and Matthew 14:27 among other places in the Bible God says not to fear.

What is my point? Well I’m not telling you to go walk in front of a bus when it’s driving 50 miles per hour and repeatedly say to yourself that God tells you not to fear. But I am telling you this because I want you to know when the next time trouble comes your way, and your knees are beginning to give way, you can look to the Lord and believe he has it under control.
