This was my first book by author Dana Mentink, but I do not think it will be my last one! From page one I found myself engaged in the story and wondering what would happen next. It was a suspenseful thrill ride from the start to the end and one that kept me reading nonstop until I finished the book.  It only took me a day to get through, which is good since I typically prefer historical fiction over contemporary fiction and this book definitely captured my attention! I found the story to be quick paced and easy to read. At times it felt slightly unbelievable, but even that was explained  as I progressed through the story.  I cannot begin to imagine what it would be like to be in the situation they found themselves in, nor running from killers while trying to provide for the needs of a young baby.  But it all made for good reading, offering heart pumping, adrenaline filled action. I love how someone described the book as “unputdownable.” While being a funny made up term, it is truly the best way to describe the story and sums it up perfectly. Having now finished the book, I am ager to see what Mentink has next for readers. I am absolutely positive I will be reading whatever books I can by her and am now a lifelong fan. Though this went outside of my comfort zone for reading preferences, it was one I completely enjoyed and am glad to have had the opportunity to read. If you are a fan of suspense and action, this book will not disappoint you and is an absolute must read. And the little bit of romance that developed slowly throughout the book adds a nice touch, too, without being the focus or too mushy in the middle of a heart pumping race. A truly fun read!
