Freedom in Grace

By: Christopher Jacobs

In God’s grace there is true freedom. Have you forgotten about His simple grace? It is so very easy to forget in this “do-it-yourself” world we live in. Are you walking in a life of grace? Or are you walking in something else? God’s desire for us is to just abide in Him and trust in Him with all that we are. He’ll take care of us, just trust Him. Christian, have you neglected to abide in Christ, and have you trusted too much in your own abilities? Listen to the words of Jesus and think to yourself if you have personally accepted what He has told you in your own walk with Him, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Are you at peace my friend, or have the waves of this world troubled your heart? The fruits that the believer bears, who is walking in grace, are: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. (Galatians 5:22-23) No one can fake these fruits of the Spirit of course. And you cannot force them either. Don’t try it, it’s painful!

Truly, don’t run out there and prove that you are walking in grace to your fellow brothers and sisters by trying to force these fruits. Please read John, chapter 15. Just ABIDE IN CHRIST. It’s as simple as that. The more that you abide in Christ – the more you know Love – and the more you know Love, the more you love the LORD your God with all your heart, soul, and might and the more you love your neighbor as yourself – which are the two greatest commandments of God’s word. Jesus said, “On these two commandments hang ALL the law and the prophets.” Remember, Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes. Without Him, we could do nothing.

Simply put, God loves you and He is the One that will perfect you. Read that one more time, HE is the One that WILL PERFECT YOU! Isn’t that awesome!? He not only redeems us, but He works in our lives to perfect us. You have probably heard the term, “(G)od’s (R)iches (A)t (C)hrist’s (E)xpense.” That is exactly what it is! It’s not (G)od’s (R)iches (A)fter (C)areful (E)xamination! Boy, would I fail and end up empty handed in the end if that were the case! Just don’t ever forget that God proved His love to you and is proving it to you every single day. Stand fast in His love! Walk in grace. There is true freedom in knowing that you are saved by grace and not of works.
